Great Weekend

With the family out of the house, I was afraid that my weekend would be LONG and boring. It was neither! I had to do a Reserve Duty day on Friday and it turned out to be a good day. We had work to do, plus it was a short day. Saturday started out with temps about 10 degrees cooler than the previous few days. I went to help a buddy move into his house in the morning, them cut my grass, for the first time in about a month, after lunch. Then my buddy J. Shindig called to invite me out on the boat with his oldest and her friend.

What a WONDERFUL way to end the day. The water temp was 82 degrees with no wind and NO JELLIES. We spent the afternoon tubing and cruising around Breton Bay, then out into the Potomac. J tried hard to throw me off the tube, but I fought with all I had. Eventually, he threw me around enough and with the help of some waves, I went tumbling. I clawed my way back on and went for more punishment. I never knew that having so much fun was that tiring. After I got back into the boat and caught my breath, J went for a ride.

The day ended by watching the sun set over the river. There is not much better than spending a peacful afternoon with friends and enjoying God's beauty.

I don't have any pictures. I don't think I could have pushed the shutter button after my tube ride.

Sunday morning, I woke up excited about going to church. In the past, if Mel and the kids were away, I probably would have stayed home, but we have made a church change recently, and really love it.

That afternoon, J came over to help cut up a small tree, then I got some "honey do's" done and relaxed the rest of the evening. When I awoke this morning, I could hardly move my arms. I need J to let me know a couple of weeks before tubing again, so I can go to the gym for some strength training.

Tora (our dog) and I sure do miss our people. It's too quiet here and my bed is too big for just me. They will be home in a couple of days, then life gets back to "normal".

I have been watching videos a lot with my clan gone and have found a BUNCH of good ones. Here is another one of my favorite songs. Michael W. Smith has a movie called "The Second Chance" that we haven't seen yet, but will put it on my Netflix list.

Great Post,
That evening was just about perfect. The sunset was awesome! Thanks for being part of it... and without a driver, J is left to the typical boat-chafer duties. It's a much better view from the end of the tow rope and water-tube level. Thanks for coming.

I just thought of something, I need to buy a water proof camera and take some photo's from the water perspective.

Mel says you get two gold stars for getting the grass cut! :)
I'm jealous, I'd love to see the sun set from the water - soon, right?
Thanks for letting me "borrow" your clan for the week.

Don't have too much fun, it might get you in trouble. :)
It's been so long since we were on the water. I really miss those evenings when Val would babysit our kids while Chris & I borrowed their canoe. The ultimate free date! Fond memories!
